Change Maker and Creative Coach.
What is Creative Coaching?
My creative coaching work is grounded in core principles that support artists to thrive in their lives and careers. In workshops and private sessions, I provide guidance in uncovering what truly matters by identifying core values, reveal how to overcome the fear voices that get in the way, and illuminate how to vision life well lived. My wish is to support creatives in moving beyond conventional success metrics and to empower those I work with to create their own authentic vision of a rewarding life that they can start living today.
Creative coaching is forward looking. It’s not therapy. I offer tools and perspective shifts that give clarity, and ultimately, confidence, to someone to make choices that align with who they are.
This work has emerged from my own journey in my career struggling with definitions of success and my own work to bridge my worlds of classical music and my personal cultural walk as a Métis woman. In my work as an artist and coach, I am exploring how I bring all of myself into my creative work while engaging in the reality of a western, colonial system.
I invite students and professionals I work with to explore how their identities can be woven into their artistry, creating a whole self-approach to making, and result in a freedom of creative practice and confidence in intuitive knowing as part of a healthy artistic practice.
The artists of today will shape the world to come- onstage and off. The ‘audience’ they will perform and create for will not be the audience of the last 100 years which carried a particular class system, presumed shared world view and ethnic make-up. The next generation of artists come from diverse lineages, lived experiences, identities and self-definitions. All of this must be part of their creative practice.
I support and empower those I work with as they discover their authentic voice and the story they are here to live.

“Wayfinding can be a mysterious and daunting path for young artists as they seek both identity and belonging within a complex professional ecosystem. Rebecca Hass brings a rare blend of creative experience, intuitive wisdom, and pedagogical skills grounded in respectful communication to those who ask questions about their purpose and goals. Her mentorship is gentle yet profoundly insightful. Rebecca raises the bar on the so-called "soft skills" that are in fact the fundamental practices of artistic life."
Erika Switzer, pianist, Director of Collaborative Piano Studies at Bard College, co-founder Sparks & Wiry Cries.
“The pathway of a performing artist is filled with many daunting challenges and requires a great level of personal fortitude and grounding. This is especially true for emerging artists who are still finding their footing in a rapidly evolving artistic landscape. Rebecca Hass provides a critical area of support to artists of the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Studio through her work as a creative coach. Her individualized coaching helps these artists to prioritize their overall wellbeing and gives them strategies to bring their full selves into their creative practice, which is key to their long- term growth and success."

"Working with you has been an incredibly enriching experience. Your approach, in our sessions, is both compassionate and insightful, and it creates a safe, non-judgmental space where I can explore and reflect on my challenges. My favorite part about working with you is how deeply you listen. You are so attuned to what I’m saying (and not saying), which allows you to tailor your approach to meet me exactly where I am. I didn’t expect such deep personal growth to come from working with a creative living coach. You helped me not just tackle external challenges, but also unlock deeper layers of my creativity and potential that I hadn’t fully realized. In my opinion, you helped me realize it is not just about problem-solving, but about fostering a mindset of possibility."
