Rebecca Hass, a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours Bachelor in Music and Voice Performance, has enjoyed an almost 40 year career as a mezzo soprano performing across Canada with almost every opera company and orchestra as a soloist and lead performer. She has also created several cabarets, one woman shows and toured them to various communities across Canada. With a passion for contemporary music, Rebecca is proud to have been the original soloist for Afghanistan: Requiem for a Generation, by Canadian composer Jeffery Ryan. Her performance of this work with the Vancouver Symphony, under the baton of Bramwell Tovey, will be released by Naxos in spring of 2024. Currently, Rebecca is composing new songs that connect her western musical practice to her land practice, and looks forward to her upcoming residency to write and compose at the Leighton Studios at the Banff Center for the Arts in the fall of 2024.
